EXTENDED CARE PROGRAM

During the residential program at the Malibu Beach Recovery Center, clients live in a protected drug-free environment where they are constantly motivated by our therapists to participate in the recovery program. After completing the residential program, our clients are encouraged to spend at least two months at the Malibu Beach Recovery Center Transitional Living Program. They live in a drug-free, supportive environment at Brentwood House in West Los Angeles, or at other affiliated transitional livings such as Oceanside in Malibu.

At this stage our clients have the tools to take care of their mood sustaining system based on the knowledge and skills acquired during the residential program at the Malibu Beach Recovery Center.

Our Transitional Living clients live in an environment where they learn to integrate their newly acquired life sustaining tools into their everyday life – with help from knowledgeable and supportive staff. Participation in a supportive transitional living program such as that offered by Brentwood House provides clients with an environment where everything they may need to sustain their sobriety is made available to them, while at the same time they are given the freedom and flexibility to structure their own days, and gradually adjust to living in a completely independent environment.

During transitional living at Brentwood House clients are encouraged to participate in a modified version of the Malibu Beach Exercise Program; to learn to shop, cook, and eat in accordance with the principles of the healthy Malibu Beach Recovery Recovery Diet; and to attend 12-Step Meetings in the local community. A Malibu Beach Recovery Life Coach is assigned to each client, to be available to help ease the transition to an independent life. In addition, individuals may continue to see their Malibu Beach Recovery therapist, and attend weekly alumni dinners.

OCEANSIDE TRANSITIONAL LIVING is an affiliate of the Malibu Beach Recovery Center.
Clients who do not go to Brentwood House often to to Oceanside instead.
It is more expensive, but right on the beach in Malibu.

Katherine Johnson Kathryn Johnson, LMFT Director TO of Oceanside Transitional Living
Kathryn Johnson is a licensed psychotherapist who is passionate about her work with those in recovery. She has worked as a therapist at some of the major rehabs in Malibu helping guide clients through detox, early recovery and working with their families. Kathryn is known for her incredible compassion and contagious sense of humor. She has also worked as a clinical director of an adolescent in patient psychiatric unit for 5 years.

Dave Johnson
Director of Oceanside Transitional Living
Dave Johnson developed Oceanside with a vision of creating a safe harbor for those in recovery who need skills for long term sobriety. Dave's approach is very hands-on; clients and family members can not only see him on an almost daily basis at the facility, but can reach him by cell phone at any time. Dave's passion for working with people has been a core part of his life experience.

Malibu Shores is another sober living offered to clients to who do not go to Brentwood House.
Malibu Shores offers everything needed to make rehabilitation successful and sobriety matter.
